Privacy policy

What we collect when you book, why we need it, where it is kept, and what you can ask us to do with it.

This notice explains how Wasklub handles personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Last updated 20 August 2026.

Who is responsible for your information

Wasklub Mobile Car Wash is the responsible party. You can reach us at wasklubb@gmail.com or on 060 178 7941.

What we collect, and why

When you make a booking we ask for:

  • Your name, mobile number and email address — so we can confirm the booking, send you a reference, and reach you if we are running early or late.
  • The service address, including any access notes you give us such as a gate code or where to park — because we come to you, and we cannot do the job without knowing where and how to get in.
  • Vehicle details — make, model, registration and colour — so we clean the right vehicle and price it correctly.
  • Anything you type into a notes field, which is optional.

Everything above except the optional fields is required. Without it we cannot arrange or carry out a booking, which is the only consequence of not supplying it.

If you send us a message through the contact form, we keep your name, contact details and the message so we can reply.

Marketing is separate, and optional

The booking form has a separate tick box for occasional offers and reminders. It is off by default, it is not required to book, and booking messages are sent either way. You can ask us to stop at any time and we will.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. It is handled by two service providers acting on our instructions:

  • Supabase hosts the database that stores your booking. Those servers are in Switzerland.
  • Resend, using Amazon SES, sends your confirmation and reminder emails. Those servers are in Ireland.

Your information leaves South Africa

Because of the providers above, your information is stored and processed in Switzerland and Ireland. POPIA permits this where the destination offers comparable protection. Both do: Switzerland under its Federal Act on Data Protection, and Ireland under the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept for as long as we need them to run the business and meet our tax and accounting obligations — generally five years, in line with the Tax Administration Act. Contact-form messages are kept until the query is resolved and for a reasonable period afterwards. Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it.

How it is protected

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to booking records is restricted at the database level, so the public website cannot read other customers' bookings even in principle. Looking up your own booking requires both your reference and a matching contact detail. Staff access to the admin portal requires an individual account.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • object to us using your information for a particular purpose;
  • withdraw marketing consent at any time.

Email wasklubb@gmail.com and we will respond as quickly as we reasonably can.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Cookies

We use no advertising or analytics cookies. The only data stored in your browser is what makes the site work: an in-progress booking, so a refresh does not lose it, and a session cookie if you are staff signing in to the admin portal.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top. Our cancellation and rescheduling terms are set out separately.
